Sweet Tweet!!

This here is an adorable photo of my niece who just celebrated her 1st birthday!

It's just incredible HOW fast the time goes! I made these purple leg warmers for her and my sister was kind enough to take a picture of her wearing them for me since we live in different cities and I couldn't be there for the big day sadly. She is walking now and even saying a few real words! I am glad she can wear these leg warmers as she walks and runs around since she still falls a lot...practice makes perfect.
If you want a pair of these leg warmers for your baby or toddler, or as a gift for a baby shower of holiday, then come see what's available in one of my TWO online stores! I also do custom orders!

Leg Warmers.

During this time as I get closer and closer to my due date, I feel like I have embraced the life as a domesticated house wife and soon to be mother. (You can read my experience throughout the pregnancy here http://www.heatherbays.blogspot.com/.) I have been baking and cooking and crocheting like crazy. I have started preparing fresh home cooked soups and freezing them so when time is scarce we will still have very nutritious and delicious homemade foods to eat. But one of my favourite things to do it make adorable baby and toddler leg warmers.

I have some available in both of my online shops but I also do custom orders if you are looking for a specific colour! So come to either my ETSY store or ARTFIRE store and see what's available! They are perfect for this time of year and would make a wonderful Christmas gift too. They will arrive gift ready just like the photo below, all nicely hand packaged!!

These little leggings are warm woolen handmade and crocheted with wool topped with a simple bow. They'll keep your child's legs toasty through the fall, winter, spring and cool summer nights. They're classic, simple and extremely sweet. They have a cute bow at the top so the tightness can be adjusted, with an adorable frilly bottom. Great for when baby starts crawling to protect those precious knees.
These leg warmers will fit babies 6 months to children 3 years or older, depending on the size of the child. You can bunch them or wear them full length. They also fit on adults arms for arm warmers! They measure about 11 inches long. The top measures 8 inches around (so a 4 inch diameter) and the bottom just above the frill measures 6 inches around (so a 3 inch diameter.)

Etch A Sketch

I needle felted a mini Etch A Sketch. It's so cute. It could be a necklace, keychain, cell phone charm, or a brooch. I also love that it's the perfect size for my Blythe doll. So if you are in to Blythe or Barbies (or any other doll about the same size) it makes a great prop too.

Come check out my store to see what is available!

Oh Baby Baby...

Since finding out that my baby will most likely be a girl, I started to crochet these adorable Mary Jane's. They have been quite a hit so far. As I work on photo files from our recent trip to India, I crochet in between processing them from RAW to TIFF. I am so in love with making them.

These here are ones I made for size newborn to 3 months. I am making some larger sizes over the weekend.

They all have old buttons on the sides to secure the strap to your baby's feet. The buttons are from my Grandma's collection that I was given a few years back when she past away.

Check out my online store for availability!

Or contact me at heatherbays@gmail.com or through an Etsy conversation if you would like a pair in a certain colour. I have MANY colours of yarn to choose from which you can see by viewing one of the baby shoe listings in my shop.

Also, if you are in the Winnipeg area on August 14th, there will be a craft sale at Aqua Books, 274 Garry Street from 11-5pm. For more info on the upcoming sale, please check out the facebook event page:

Dinosaur Eggs For Babies!

I, Heather Bays, am 17 weeks pregnant! That's right, I am almost half way there and soon I will be able to find out the sex of the baby! I am so excited! Either way, my baby will love dinosaurs, just like I do! So, I think I will try to decorate the nursery with handmade/homemade dinosaur themed things! With baby one the mind, I started making baby rattles! My favourite ones are the dinosaur egg baby rattles. I only have one available in my store but I have more in the making that will be different colours!

This rattle was made by hand using soap felting and needle felting techniques. It is an eco-friendly toy made with natural and recycled materials. It is a non toxic rattle made with 100% wool and in the core is a recycled plastic container (such as an old pill bottle or the plastic container from a kinder surprise egg.) The container is holding popcorn kernels which makes the rattle noise when shaken.

Perfect for my baby, your baby and would also make a great gift for a baby shower!
Stay updated on more baby things (and other crafty homemade items) by popping by this blog often, or become a fan of mine on facebook, I always like getting more fans!

Custom Made Cake Toppers.

People have contacted me on numerous occasions to make them a cake topper so their wedding cakes, birthday cakes or anniversary cakes are more personalized. They make beautiful display art too so you can keep them forever! The photo below has some examples of ones that I have done. They are needle felted all by hand with 100% wool.

Needle felting is when you take loose roving wool and stab it repetitively hundreds if not thousands of time with a barbed needle so it gets denser and denser to sculpt it. You can literally make ANYTHING with wool.
Check out my online store to see what's available.
