CHRISTMAS!!!

I know that Halloween JUST ended, but I LOVE the Christmas season and started preparing!! I have needle felted a couple decorations for around your house. Like, the traditional Gingerbread Man...only this time it looks like someone got hold of him and took a tasty bite!

Also, I have needle felted mistletoe's which are just beautiful and elegant. Perfect for scoring those Christmas kisses.

Etch A Sketch

I needle felted a mini Etch A Sketch. It's so cute. It could be a necklace, keychain, cell phone charm, or a brooch. I also love that it's the perfect size for my Blythe doll. So if you are in to Blythe or Barbies (or any other doll about the same size) it makes a great prop too.

Cutest Wedding Cake Topper!

I just made this adorable wedding cake topper for a couple on Etsy who are getting married next winter. A crab with a fargo hat holding a heart sign on a wooden stick sitting on a turtle wearing a touque with a pom-pom! I am so in love with it. The little touques are too much, they make me melt, and the little heart sign, man oh man. This will be one great wedding cake. You can feel the love!!

Delicious Red Apples in a Fruit Salad.

Apples are a popular needle felted item! People use them for jewelry, phone charms, keychains, brooches and to add to projects of their very own!

In fact, fruit in general is pretty popular! If you look through my "sold" items in my shop, you'll see I've sold many fruit related items such as, watermelon earrings, banana necklaces, pear keychains, and apples. Felted Soaps, oh YES!

Felted soaps are basically a bar of soap wearing a wool sweater. They are handmade by me (Heather Bays) using a wet felting/soap felting technique. These ones here were each made with a 120g bar of Olay Body Ultra Moisture soaps either in Vanilla Indulgence or Shea Butter. They smell yuuuummmmy!

Felted soaps are softer and more luxurious than using a cloth or loofah. They work up such a rich silky lather and as you wash it gently exfoliates your skin! Plus you won't have to deal with the end bits of soap that are slippery and hard to hold and usually end up slipping down the drain, and are wasted. As the bar of soap shrinks, so does the wool! In the end, you're left with a little wool scrubby.

Baby Rattles (and a Little Reminder...)

So at the moment I have finished 3 adorable baby rattles! The dinosaur egg (in the posting below) and these 2 here!


They're available in my shop, OR...(here's the little reminder) if you're in Winnipeg over the weekend there will be an artisan and craft show in the Chief Pequis Pavillion at Kildonan Park (see map here) on Saturday, June 26th and Sunday June 27th, from 11:00 a.m 'til 7:30 p.m!
I will be there with all my felted goodies along with my photos! So come and spend the day in the park, it's a lovely place for a picnic! I have also made some felted soaps...which are basically soaps with a wool sweater for bathing with...I will post those on here when they are complete...right now they are drying and making my whole place smell yuuuuummmmyyyy!

Who's Going Bananas!!

There is this band called 'Pigeon Horse Sex Tennis' from Amsterdam and Rick from the band wears a needle felted banana necklace on stage! I (Heather Bays) have made 3 for him in the last 6 months.

Winnipeg Craft Sale!!

The World Artisans Village Inc. is a local not for profit organization showcasing artists and crafters – they’re looking to raise funds to run a more permanent venue for new Canadian, aboriginal and local artisans and crafters to showcase and sell their work. On Saturday, June 26^th and June 27^th, 2010 from 11:00 a.m till 7:30 p.m they will be hosting an artisan and craft show in the Chief Pequis Pavillion at Kildonan Park in Winnipeg. Here is a MAP of the park! It's at the Pavillion with a parking lot in the front!

Heather Bays will be there with her needle felted goodies like wedding cake toppers, severed head cat toys, soft sculptures, baby mobiles, eco-friendly baby rattles, aprons, hair pieces, photographs, photo pendants and other jewelry!! So come down, bring a picnic because Kildonan Park is a great place for a picnic!!

Custom Made Cake Toppers.

People have contacted me on numerous occasions to make them a cake topper so their wedding cakes, birthday cakes or anniversary cakes are more personalized. They make beautiful display art too so you can keep them forever! The photo below has some examples of ones that I have done. They are needle felted all by hand with 100% wool.

Needle felting is when you take loose roving wool and stab it repetitively hundreds if not thousands of time with a barbed needle so it gets denser and denser to sculpt it. You can literally make ANYTHING with wool.

Blythe and Her Pet Bread and Butterfly.

Needle felted Bread and Butterfly (from Alice in Wonderland) in a vintage style birdcage, made with 100% wool by Heather Bays.

Green Owls In Love.

These vintage style green owls are needle felted by Heather Bays with 100% wool. I was inspired to make these because I have a thing for salt and pepper shakers and a friend of mine bought be a set of green owls that are obviously in love, so I recreated them with wool. ADORABLE!

Perfect for the top of a wedding cake or anniversary cake or a birthday cake for a couple and you can keep it forever and put on display at your home because they're so cute. Infact, you don't necessarily have to use them for a cake topper at all! Great for a Christmas ornament, pin cushions, display art, or to add to a project of your very own!

Bows & Bow Ties

These bows needle felted by Heather Bays. They have 2 inch french clips on the back. You can wear them at any age, they really complete any outfit! Perfect for a casual day or something as big as a wedding day!

I can also put a pin on the back instead of a french clip (just like the black and white bow below) so you can pin it on a shirt as a bow tie, or pin it on a bag, or nylon headband. If you want a keychain, I can add that instead of the pin or clip, the options are endless!
