Felted Soaps, oh YES!

Felted soaps are basically a bar of soap wearing a wool sweater. They are handmade by me (Heather Bays) using a wet felting/soap felting technique. These ones here were each made with a 120g bar of Olay Body Ultra Moisture soaps either in Vanilla Indulgence or Shea Butter. They smell yuuuummmmy!

Felted soaps are softer and more luxurious than using a cloth or loofah. They work up such a rich silky lather and as you wash it gently exfoliates your skin! Plus you won't have to deal with the end bits of soap that are slippery and hard to hold and usually end up slipping down the drain, and are wasted. As the bar of soap shrinks, so does the wool! In the end, you're left with a little wool scrubby.

If you are interested in trying some felted soaps just email me heatherbays@gmail.com or check out my online store for availability!

They're available in my shop, OR...(here's the little reminder) if you're in Winnipeg over the weekend there will be an artisan and craft show in the Chief Pequis Pavillion at Kildonan Park (see map here) on Saturday, June 26th and Sunday June 27th, from 11:00 a.m 'til 7:30 p.m!
I will be there with all my felted goodies along with my photos! So come and spend the day in the park, it's a lovely place for a picnic! I have also made some felted soaps...which are basically soaps with a wool sweater for bathing with...I will post those on here when they are complete...right now they are drying and making my whole place smell yuuuuummmmyyyy!

Dinosaur Eggs For Babies!

I, Heather Bays, am 17 weeks pregnant! That's right, I am almost half way there and soon I will be able to find out the sex of the baby! I am so excited! Either way, my baby will love dinosaurs, just like I do! So, I think I will try to decorate the nursery with handmade/homemade dinosaur themed things! With baby one the mind, I started making baby rattles! My favourite ones are the dinosaur egg baby rattles. I only have one available in my store but I have more in the making that will be different colours!

This rattle was made by hand using soap felting and needle felting techniques. It is an eco-friendly toy made with natural and recycled materials. It is a non toxic rattle made with 100% wool and in the core is a recycled plastic container (such as an old pill bottle or the plastic container from a kinder surprise egg.) The container is holding popcorn kernels which makes the rattle noise when shaken.

Perfect for my baby, your baby and would also make a great gift for a baby shower!
Stay updated on more baby things (and other crafty homemade items) by popping by this blog often, or become a fan of mine on facebook, I always like getting more fans!

If you want a felted fruit of your very own as a necklace, brooch, keychain or phone charm, I can make you any fruit! Like say a Raspeberry?

HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well it's about damn time I contribute something. SHEESH! For the past 6 months my creative outlet has been hair, hair and more flippin hair. I'm not complaining, I love it, it's just that I haven't had much energy for other creative outlets.

However, last month we had 3 GREAT craft sales in a row and I tried out a few different ideas. I took a crack at sewing and after a few tries, I managed to make a garter! I struggled with the elastic (essssssssh!) as the first 2 garters turned out to be suuuper cute dog collars for Basil (not enough stretch..ooops!) Ahhh well. Here's a photo of the only finished garter, I ran out of steam to make anymore haha. I wish I had enough time to make a few more, but time was not on my side.

the garter rejects/ adorable dog collars haha

MORE LITTLE CRAFTS! These are the left overs from the craft sales last month! Most of the stuff was made while at the craft sales. I love the little whales! hehe!

Glass Tile Photo Pendants.

Now you can wear my photographs everywhere you go!

These glass pendants measure 1 3/8 x 1 3/8 inches, and hang from a simple bail on a silver ball chain that is nickel plated. They are made by me, Heather Bays!
